Yachats sits at the north edge of the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area on the central Oregon coast. The 804 Trail runs along easements on the rocky shoreline at the town's north end, part of the Oregon Coast Trail, and links the Yachats Community Park Wetland, Yachats State Recreation Area and the Yachats Ocean Road State Natural Site. Walk south instead and the 804 becomes the Oregon Coast Trail again and then the Amanda Trail, which climbs the last mile or so to the stone shelter on Cape Perpetua. The cape itself is a large forested headland about two miles south of town, and its shoreline holds arches, chasms and blowholes, including the collapsed sea cave known as Thor's Well.
