Jenison is a fully built-out bedroom community on the south side of the Grand River, with roughly 16,600 residents. Jenison is entirely unincorporated, so the community has no mayor and no city hall of its own. Georgetown Charter Township governs these residents and counted 54,091 people across its whole area in 2020.
As a bedroom community, Jenison is a place people come home to, which makes the home a natural spot for a quiet session. Distance Reiki attunements need no office visit, so nothing in Jenison asks you to leave home. Flower essences and aura sprays then fit into the evening routine of a household in Jenison without any added errand.
The name Jenison comes from the sawmill family that arrived in the 1830s, and the community still carries that family name today. From 1872 until 1887, the post office went by Jenisonville, and the surrounding settlement was first called George's Town, which became Georgetown Township. Many people call the community Wildcat Country, after the Jenison High School Wildcats who carry its name on the field. The high school marching band played the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2023, and the softball program won six state titles in nine years. Each of these names marks a different chapter of Jenison, from sawmill days to the band and softball teams of today.
