It took the name because a golden lamb appeared on the signboard for the benefit of those who could not read. The inn stands where Main Street, State Route 63, meets Broadway, State Route 42, on the old road between Cincinnati and Columbus, sharing the intersection with the county courthouse and the library, and twelve United States presidents have stayed there. Its interiors were furnished with antiques, many from the local Shakers, whose work also fills the Harmon Museum nearby.
