Downey today is a heavily Mexican-American middle-class suburb in Los Angeles County, proud of a history far larger than its size. In 2015 the Los Angeles Times described that Mexican-American middle-class character by calling Downey the Mexican Beverly Hills.
Downey's middle-class households can receive a distance Reiki attunement from their own living rooms, since Rev. Michael Allison holds every Downey session from Madison Heights, Michigan. A city that helped send Apollo crews toward the Moon already understands how real connection can span great distance.
Downey holds an outsized place in space history, because the plant that built every Apollo Command/Service Module stood here in the city. That Downey plant also conceived the Space Shuttle, earning the city the nicknames Cradle of the Cosmic Age and Birthplace of the Apollo Space Program. Downey also stands as a pop-culture landmark, home to the world's oldest operating McDonald's and to the very first Taco Bell. The Carpenters adopted Downey as their hometown, adding a famous musical chapter to a city already known for rockets and fast food. Prismatic Flower Essences honors that Downey story with flower essences and aura sprays chosen by distance for each resident who reaches out.
