Flower Readings and Floral Mapping Answer Two Different Questions
Alongside the standard consultation, Prismatic Flower Essences offers a flower reading and something called floral mapping. The names do not explain themselves and people book whichever they happen to see first. They answer genuinely different questions, and the difference is time.
A Flower Reading Is a Snapshot
A flower reading is the lighter of the two. It is a single sitting and it works from where you are right now.
The people it suits best are the ones who are curious but cannot articulate a question. That sounds like a disadvantage and it is not. Plenty of people know something is worth looking at and cannot say what, and being asked to describe it precisely is the barrier that stops them booking anything at all. A reading does not require you to arrive with a well formed problem.
It is also the gentlest introduction for anyone who finds the idea of a consultation a bit clinical. Being read is a different experience from being assessed.
Floral Mapping Is a Longer Line
Floral mapping does something a single sitting cannot. It lays a pattern out across a stretch of time rather than answering one question on one day.
That matters because a great many of the things people actually want help with are not events, they are shapes. Something recurs. A season is consistently harder than the others. A situation resolves and then reassembles itself with different people in it. None of that is visible in a snapshot, because in a snapshot it just looks like today.
Mapping also gives you essences to work with along the way rather than a single recommendation at the end, so the work continues between sittings instead of concluding at the door.
Choosing Between Them
One question decides it. Is what you are dealing with happening now, or has it been happening?
Something acute and current, a decision in front of you, a rough few weeks, an unsettled feeling that arrived recently, is reading territory. Something recurring, whether that is a pattern in relationships, a difficulty that returns every autumn, or a version of the same problem for the third time, is mapping territory.
Getting this wrong is not costly and it is easy to correct. People who book a reading and find they were describing a decade usually go on to map it. People who book mapping for something that turns out to be a bad month find out quickly, which is itself useful information.
Where the Standard Consultation Sits
A Flower Essence Consultation is the most direct of the three. You describe your situation, Rev. Michael chooses essences for it. It is efficient and it suits people who already know what they want to work on and simply want the right bottle rather than an exploration.
The intuitive consultation is the fourth option and it is the one to choose when you have just come out of a session, a sound bath or a hard week and cannot yet put words to what is present. It works from what is there rather than from your description of it.
Four doors into roughly the same room, then, and the honest guidance is to pick by how much you can currently say out loud rather than by which sounds most thorough. If you are still undecided, say what happened this month and let the right one be suggested.
Reading or mapping?
If your situation is happening now, start with a reading. If it keeps happening, mapping is the one that will show you the shape.
