Tibetan Reiki is presented here as a set of distance course notes, and it begins with a piece of honesty that is unusual in this field. The manual states that the name may be misleading, that the symbols in it are not from the Tibetan Sanskrit language, and that little of the system is provably Tibetan in form or substance, while noting that its spiritual content resembles much found in Eastern philosophies. What it claims for itself is modest: a complete system of energy with symbols that bring energies into harmony and balance.

The lineage story, as presented by Craig Ellis, holds that ascended masters including El Morya taught this energy to Buddha, Jesus and Mohammed, and to people in Lemuria, Atlantis, Egypt, the Peruvian Andes, Machu Picchu and to the Hunas in Polynesia, and that in the late 1800s Babaji, Mataji and Master Rupon taught Tschen Li, who in turn taught the founder of the traditional Reiki lineage. The recorded lineage runs Tschen Li, Ralph White, Craig Ellis, Pamela Jordan and Stephen Lovering.
