Sexual Empowerment was created by Roger T. Hill of Selmer, Tennessee, and published through the Double Dragon International Reiki School, with the manual prepared jointly with Jens Söeborg, who supplied the drawings. Hill describes himself plainly as someone who has worked with crystals, Reiki and other energy forms for many years and who was sixty-two at the time of writing.
What makes the system technically distinct is its direction of flow, because where Usui Reiki is described as coming from above and entering through the crown, this energy is a fire type that rises from the earth, entering through the base chakra and travelling up and out through the hands, which is why the manual associates it with the kundalini.
He is careful to say he claims no new energy, only a different band or vibration of the same one, focused on a single aspect of the life force. The system carries one symbol of its own, the Rose, a symbol of love and peace, drawn however you can manage it, and it borrows the Chokurei and the distance symbol from Usui. The lineage is given openly as Roger T. Hill to you, or Roger T. Hill to Jens Söeborg to you.
What this attunement is intended to support:
- It is traditionally used to support work with the earth-rising current the manual associates with the kundalini.
- The stated intention of every session is the whole person, mind, body and spirit together, rather than one part in isolation.
- It is used to support a warm, affectionate quality in the work, with love named as the key word throughout.
- The Rose symbol is used to support an atmosphere of peace in a session that might otherwise feel awkward.
- The same process is extended to animals.
- It is intended to support the practitioner's own comfort with a subject the manual acknowledges is difficult to speak about openly.
What you receive:
- The Sexual Empowerment attunement and its Rose symbol.
- The full session sequence, running through the Usui hand positions first and closing with the Rose drawn in the air.
- Both attunement procedures, in person with the walk-around method and at a distance with the Usui distance symbol.
Who this is for:
- Reiki practitioners who want a focused system rather than general Usui work for this area.
- Healers who prefer short sessions, since the manual puts this work at fifteen to twenty-five minutes against forty-five for standard Usui.
- Practitioners who also work with animals and want one method that covers both.
How it is used:
Begin with the Chokurei, held in the palms or drawn on paper if you would rather not mark your hands, then ask for the energy to flow. Run the Usui hand positions first, then the positions given for this system, keeping your hands a comfortable distance above the body throughout, since the manual is clear that no contact is necessary. Draw the Rose in the air above the recipient to close.
The whole sequence usually takes fifteen to twenty-five minutes, but let the energy rather than the clock decide when to stop. Respect the recipient's feelings and never force anything they do not want, and follow your own sense of what is needed, since the manual holds there is no wrong way to work. For distance sessions, use the Usui distance symbol and see the whole session in your mind; the founder finds it works better with a photograph in front of you.
