The Life Path Empowerment was channeled by Linda Colibert of SpiritLight Reiki, who also channeled the artwork, with the manual copyrighted in September 2007. She writes that it was given to her by her personal guide, Bernice, who insisted the system stay simple and easy to use so that anyone who wants guidance can actually receive and apply it. Its purpose is twofold: to help you identify your own guides, often by name, and to help you find your life's path and stay on it.

There is one attunement and one symbol, an eight point star drawn in a straight line style and associated with Spirit and the Angels, which you use to focus and strengthen the connection. Not all guides are angels, but the manual says the star will connect you to whichever of yours you need to reach. It is also the symbol you turn to when you feel yourself drifting off course, since simply bringing it to mind is described as the first step back toward clarity.
