Fairy Realms Reiki was written by Keith Zang of the Moonglow Enlightenment Center, and the manual dates its arrival precisely: 4 July 2005, at his home in the Olympic mountains near Olympia, Washington. He was watering plants and checking young trees when he felt a strong presence, saw several symbols flash through his mind, heard the words "Fairy Reiki" and felt a tingling run from the top of his head to the base of his spine. The connection had been building for years.

In 1999 he and his wife Enny bought five logged acres and let the natural vegetation return on three of them, and after a winged presence knocked him off a woodpile with the message that the fairy mounds were homes, the family settled a boundary: two acres for the house and gardens, three left undisturbed for the Fae. The system that came out of that relationship is given away rather than sold, because the fairies asked that it be shared freely.
