McMinnville anchors Willamette Valley wine country, home to Linfield University and the tree-canopied Third Street historic core. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling farmland, this Yamhill County town carries an unhurried, earth-connected spirit that pairs naturally with mindful wellness.
The Spruce Goose sits under glass just outside town, and every May the UFO Festival turns Third Street into a parade route. Harvest and crush push the hours long from late summer into fall. Distance Reiki works around all of it, and blended essences travel by post from our Michigan studio to wherever you keep them.
William T. Newby came west with the great migration of 1843, claimed this land in 1844, built a grist mill in 1853 at what became the west end of Third Street, and on May 5, 1856 platted a town and named it after McMinnville, Tennessee, where he was from. The Oregon Territorial Legislature chartered the Baptist College at McMinnville in 1858; in 1922 Frances Ross Linfield gave the school the property that settled its future and the trustees renamed it for her late husband. In 1992 a local museum bid one dollar for the Hughes H-4 Hercules, the largest wooden flying machine ever built, and it has filled a hangar on the edge of town since 1993.
