Flint Charter Township is an L-shaped community of about 31,000 people that wraps around the southwestern side of the City of Flint in Genesee County, administered entirely separately from the city it borders. It is the retail and transportation hub of the Flint metro area, home to the region's largest enclosed mall and much of Bishop International Airport. Bisected by the I-69/I-75 interchange, it grew from 1830s farm settlements into a commercial crossroads.

Organized as a township on March 2, 1836, originally encompassing land that later split into eight municipalities including Burton, Clayton, and Flushing. A 1970s ballot measure that would have incorporated the area as the "City of Grandview Heights" failed. Temporarily renamed Garland Township from 1855 to 1856 after Burton separated.

Served primarily by Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools, with portions in Swartz Creek and Flushing districts. Historically tied to General Motors manufacturing; the Van Slyke plant was annexed by the City of Flint in the 1970s.
