Glenview is an affluent village in northeastern Cook County, about 20 miles north of downtown Chicago. Old farm heritage sits beside corporate headquarters and a large modern redevelopment, so the village holds several different rhythms of life at once.
In The Glen, homes, shops, and offices share a single mixed-use district, which keeps daily errands and work close together. A remote session fits that rhythm, because you can settle into a Reiki attunement or a flower essence consultation without leaving your Glenview home.
For most of the twentieth century, Naval Air Station Glenview defined the village, serving as the Navy's largest primary flight-training base during World War II. After the station closed in 1995, its 1,100-acre site was redeveloped and became the district residents now call The Glen. Early names included Oak Glen, Glen Oak, South Northfield, Barr, Rugenville, and Hutchings before the village chose Glen View in 1895. Glen View later merged into one word, and today Glenview still keeps one of the last working dairy farms in the county.
